At our facility, located along the coast, we grow two types of seaweed:
Ulva
A multi-cell seaweed (macro-algae). Ulva is rich in soluble and non-soluble nutritional fibers, which together form 38% of its dry weight. It contains a protein which reaches 30% of the dry weight, as well as minerals (Iodine, magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron and more), vitamins, antioxidants, chlorophyll pigmentation, beta carotene and lutein.
Gracilaria
A multi-cell seaweed (macro-algae) that contains protein, as well as non-digested (agar) and digested (starch) nutritional fibers (up to 50% of dry material). It contains other minerals (including magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, iodine), vitamins, and antioxidants . Fresh Gracilaria contains the red pigment-phycoerythrin, which serves as a food colorant, and antioxidant.
